Description
Vintage/antique solid cast iron bookends depicting the iconic Western American sculpture, "End of the Trail," originally designed by artist James Earle Fraser. This classic imagery portrays a weary, defeated Native American warrior slumped over an equally exhausted horse at the edge of the Pacific frontier. • Material: Heavy, solid cast iron with a classic multi-toned dark bronze and copper patinated finish. • Details: The relief texturing is wonderfully distinct. One of the bookends incredibly retains its long wire spear/lance, while the other shows the historical breaking of the spear shaft, leaving just the upper portion attached to the rider's back.
