Description
Bird 1 (Left): Plover by Ray Nyman (Medford, New Jersey) • The Artist: Crafted by the late, renowned New Jersey decoy maker Ray Nyman (1936–2019). • Details: This stylized feeding Plover features an authentic, dark "antique scratch" wash finish meant to replicate weathered, historic 19th-century hunting decoys. It stands on a natural wood branch dowel mounted to a rustic, live-edge wood slice base. • Markings: The underside is fully hand-signed and dated in ink: "Ray Nyman / 1995 / Plover / in old finish." Bird 2 (Right): Yellowlegs/Sandpiper by Richard Morgan (Woodbury, Connecticut) • The Artist: Sculpted by Richard A. Morgan, creator of the famous "The Painted Bird" studio, whose historic reproduction decoys have been featured nationwide (including on the cover of the L.L. Bean catalog). • Details: This elegant bird features a classic ochre and mottled gray hand-painted finish with a beautifully aged patina. It is mounted via a sleek metal rod onto a heavy, weathered driftwood block base. • Markings: Features his official, deeply charred wood-burned stamp on the bottom: "RICHARD MORGAN / MAKER" flanked by two shorebird silhouettes.
